Olympics Opening Ceremony Live Stream, TV schedule, Date, Start Time : The London Olympics Opening Ceremony 2012 schedule kicks off at 9 p.m. London time (4 p.m ET) on Friday, July 27.  It will run no more than three hours according to IOC executive director Gilbert Felli, ensured mysteriously by "some device to try to accelerate the march."

The worldwide broadcast will begin at 9 p.m. local time. NBC's TV coverage in the United States begins at 7:30 p.m ET, after providing the option to watch live streaming online.

The ceremony is predicted to be viewed live by a worldwide TV audience of over a billion people. It will open with the ringing of the largest harmonically tuned bell in the world, produced by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry, measuring two meters (yards) tall by three meters wide and weighing 23 metric tons (25.3 tons).
There are 15,000 square meters of staging - equivalent to 12 Olympic-sized swimming pools A flying system will be installed that can lift 25 metric tons or the same as five elephants.

Real farmyard animals expected to feature in the opening ceremony include 12 horses, 3 cows, 2 goats, 10 chickens, 10 ducks, 9 geese, 70 sheep, and 3 sheep dogs.
Each of the four nations will be represented by their national flower - the rose of England, the thistle of Scotland, the daffodil of Wales and flax from Northern Ireland.

The opening ceremony is titled "Isles of Wonder", inspired by William Shakespeare's play "The Tempest"

British director Danny Boyle, famous for classic films such as "Trainspotting," will join fellow acclaimed director Stephen Daldry to oversee the opening ceremonies, which have been named the "Isle of Wonder" as inspired by William Shakespeare's "The Tempest." The festivities will commence with the sound of the world's largest harmonically tuned bell.

There are murmurs that Beatles bassist Paul McCartney will close out the opening ceremonies, though it is likely he will adhere to curfew after being cut off while performing with Bruce Springsteen at a pre-ceremony event. The ceremonies also will see Daniel Craig's James Bond and the queen of England.
